Questions about Influenza

March 13th, 2013

In this video I share some thoughts on the influenza virus and the attempts by public health officials to continually keep the “flu shot” in the media.

I come from a fairly practical family and I can just imagine my grandma saying “if they have to sell something that bad, there’s got to be something wrong with it”. I have to agree.

The “roulette” science that is behind choosing what influenza subtypes are in the annual flu shot is just the beginning. The idea that a genetically modified protein is being injected into people along with all sorts of binding agents and “adjuncts” that have dramatic toxic effects on the human body is another concern. And the list of problems with the flu shot goes on and on.

What really is “in the best interest” of our children?

February 5th, 2013

I’m reviewing some research for our movie screening on Feb. 12th.  It’s a movie called “The Greater Good” a documentary on vaccines.  The thing I have never understood is why this issue is so emotional for people.  I understand it’s about our children and that can cause a lot of emotion, but so are a lot of other things.  Education, parenting, kids and chiropractic, nutrition. . . . all these things have a huge impact on our children and their future — but few things elicit as much emotion as a discussion on whither or not we should vaccinate.

Does Today’s Chiropractic Really Boost Athletic Performance?

November 2nd, 2012

Absolutely. Changes in athletic performance and physiological measure in university baseball players was measured before, during and after chiropractic adjustments. The results showed significant improvement in fourteen weeks in muscle strength and long jump distance in the group receiving adjustments.
. . . in the group that received chiropractic care there were decreases in resting blood pressure and pulse rate as well as pulse rate following treadmill activity. By comparison, these same measures showed increases within the control group (those who did not get adjusted) (1)

How do Chiro Kids stack up to Pediatricians Kids?

September 10th, 2012

This is a real “rubber hit’s the road” article. . . .

Two hundred pediatricians and two hundred chiropractors were randomly selected and surveyed to determine any differences in the health status of their respective children as raised under the different health care models. Analysis of the results indicates a definite correlation between chiropractic care and superior health.

Even though the “medical” children had a history of fewer childhood diseases, received a higher percentage of childhood immunizations (94%), compared to the “chiropractic” children (25%), the immune response of the chiropractic children was significantly better. The “chiropractic” children showed only 31% ear infection rate, while 80% of the “medical” children had ear infections.

Ear Infections and Chiropractic

The Chiropractic Approach

Chiropractic care is one of the best things you can give a child suffering from an ear infection. Chiropractic does not treat ear infections, yet doctors of chiropractic have noticed chiropractic’s profound effect on ears and hearing: Restoring the spine to its proper alignment through chiropractic care should result in the return of normal nerve supply.

Acute Otitis Media (Middle Ear Infections)

Lighthouse Surf School

No injuries in our first lesson:)

Last Thursday we had our first advanced talk since Cafe Doc’s in the summer. It was a blast and we had Art from Neo Vida Media (www.neovidamedia.com) record the workshop so it will soon be available online for you to watch at home.

It’s a long way away from the quality of presentation that Dr. Jason was talking about at the Cafe Doc’s Summer BBQ but it’s a beginning.

This lesson was all about increasing the quality of your life through understanding how 2 specific hormones erode your long term health. And how to shut those killer hormones off.

Fitness Solutions

July 11th, 2011

This weekend I re-connected with an incredible guy, Mike Clancey. He’s a fitness trainer who worked at the YMCA, but in the last year has decided to go out on his own and is training people out of the EnergyPlex (on the corner of Harvey and McCurdy) in Kelowna.

He is probably the most practical and purposeful trainers I have ever met — and if you are looking for someone that will take your health and fitness goals seriously — and be 100% in your corner, Mike is your guy.

Immune boosting benefits of chiropractic care.
Chiro Res J 1994;   3 (1):   32–39 Selano, J.; Hightower, B.; Pfleger, B.; Collins, K.; Grostic, J.

The researchers of this project sought to demonstrate that upper cervical adjustments would have a profound effect on the physiology, serology and immunology of HIV positive individuals. The effect of specific upper cervical adjustments on the immune system CD4 cell counts of HIV positive individuals was measured by CD4 per cubic mm in the blood. These tests were performed by the patients independent medical center where they were under medical supervision. A 48% increase in CD4 cells was demonstrated over the six month duration of the study for the adjusted group.
